The garter belt is without a doubt one of the sexiest accessories ever conceived. A design created originally out of necessity centuries ago to hold up stockings, garters moved out of the “need” column and into the “want” column with the arrival of elastic. No longer an ensemble essential, garter belts have survived by becoming objects of desire and tools of seduction.
The quick glimpse of a garter peeking out below a pleated skirt has caused more than one man’s heart to skip a beat. And the subtle outline of a garter strap underneath a fitting pencil skirt never fails to conger up images of a dominatrix off duty.
Recently the trend has been to let it all hang out. Celebrities and fashionistas have started to let their garter belts see the light of day in a much more upfront way. But there really is something to be said for leaving certain things to the imagination.
And what a treat it will be for that lucky some who gets to discover those discreetly hidden garters.
